RETURNS POLICY
Last updated: 19 May 2026
1. Our Returns Policy
At The Vintner’s Daughter, we take pride in the quality of our products. Because of the nature of our products — including wine and perishable goods — we are only able to accept returns or provide replacements in limited circumstances as set out below.
We do not accept returns or offer refunds for change of mind. All sales are final unless the product is confirmed to be defective.
2. Defective Products
2.1 What Qualifies as Defective
A product is considered defective if it:
- Is faulty or damaged due to a manufacturing defect
- Is corked (in the case of wine sealed by cork) — evidenced by a musty, cardboard-like smell caused by TCA (2,4,6-trichloroanisole) contamination
- Has been incorrectly sealed or packaged, resulting in spoilage
- Does not match its description in a way that constitutes a major failure under the Australian Consumer Law
2.2 What Does Not Qualify as Defective
The following are not considered defects and will not be accepted as grounds for a return:
- Differences in vintage characteristics or flavour profile from previous purchases
- Personal taste preferences
- Damage caused by improper storage or handling after purchase
3. How to Make a Claim
If you believe you have received a defective product, please contact us within 14 days of purchase or delivery by:
- Email: winery@thevintnersdaughter.com.au
- Phone: 0408 207 331
- In person at our cellar door in Murrumbateman
When making a claim, please provide:
- Proof of purchase (receipt or order confirmation)
- A description of the defect
- Photographs of the defective product and packaging (if applicable)
We will assess your claim and respond within 5 business days. We reserve the right to request that the product be returned for inspection before a remedy is provided.
4. Remedies
Where a product is confirmed to be defective, we will offer one of the following remedies at our discretion:
- Replacement of the defective product with the same or equivalent product
- A store credit to the value of the defective product
- A refund to your original payment method
We will cover reasonable return postage costs for confirmed defective products.
5. Australian Consumer Law
Our Returns Policy is in addition to, and does not limit, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If a product has a major failure, you are entitled to a replacement or refund. If a product has a minor failure, we may repair or replace the product rather than offering a refund. For more information about your consumer rights, visit www.accc.gov.au.
