Vintage 2025: Relief and Riesling!

After the challenges of recent years, we’re thrilled to report that the 2025 vintage was one of the best we’ve seen – genuine relief for us from start to finish.
While dry conditions can spell disaster for many crops, in the vineyard, they often herald perfect fruit. The lack of rain means reduced disease pressure and virtually no mildews or bunch rot. A warm, dry spring encouraged strong early growth—though we held our breath through every chilly morning, still scarred by the late frost that struck in November last year.
Thankfully, the frost never came. The summer that followed was moderate and kind, with none of the extreme heatwaves or storms and hail we’ve seen in the past. This allowed our grapes to ripen steadily and evenly, without undue stress on the vines. As harvest approached, a dry and stable autumn gave us the perfect window to bring the fruit in. Too much rain at this stage can cause splitting and invite rot, but we had none of that this year.
Our estate Gewürztraminer and Riesling rewarded us with their biggest yields ever—and not just in volume. The fruit was pristine: bursting with flavour, freshness and natural balance.
We even had to call in reinforcements to help bring in the Riesling before a forecasted rain, enlisting friends and family to lend a hand. Evidently, we didn’t work them too hard—they’ve already volunteered for next year! Even the kids picked their own to stomp with their feet at the end of the day – this didn’t make it into any wine but was great fun.
We’re incredibly excited to share these wines with you. They carry all the hallmarks of a great vintage in the Canberra District.
Cheers
Steph & Ben!
